When I looked up the actual definition of the word teenager this is what I found... A person between the ages of 13 and 19. I was somewhat disappointed. You see this past Sunday my boy turned into a teenager. The definition I envisioned went something like this... A person who has past the stage of childhood and heading into adulthood. An adolescent I suppose. I'm sure if I were to stretch my mind I could fill it with all sorts of dreaded thoughts of the teenage years. But for now, thankfully we are sailing smooth.
So here is how we celebrated the new stage of life we are entering.
Rob took the boys to the helicoptor pad where a friend of ours gave the boys a tour of the coptors inside and out.
We had a yummy lunch at home followed by birthday cake.
We then headed to the beach to do one of Kieran's favorite activities, Beach driving. This is not my favorite thing to do as the last time the tide came in faster than expected and we had to drive through a small river. But with it being his birthday I put on my brave face and let my newly acquired teenage son take me for a spin along the shore. After a short drive we went for a walk along the beach and took the chance to get a quick family photo. It's not the best, but you see our faces at least. We finished the day off at Frattini's, the best place in Brunei to get pizza.
We are planning in the next couple of weeks to take Kieran on an actual celebration for his birthday. The boys passports are getting renewed so unfortunately we are unable to leave the country. So stay tuned for some amazing photos of Temburong where we will walk among the canopy of the rainforest.
