Final Days in Canada...

The chaos of the move has settled! Our final week in Canada has been filled with many farewells followed by tears. I have many family and friends that I will thoroughly miss! Thank you all of you who have filled me with love and thankfulness through the years!

We fly out of Nanaimo on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. We have a long layover in Vancouver, so we have booked a hotel at the airport to rest before the long flight to Hong Kong.

We fly out of Vancouver at 3 in the morning. The flight to Hong Kong is a dreadful 13 hours! We arrive in Hong Kong at 6am and will be staying there for one night. Rob has some friends that are living in Hong Kong, and we will be meeting them that evening for dinner.

The following day we fly to Brunei at 2pm. The flight to Brunei is about 3 hours. Once we arrive we will finally be able to see our new home. Rob's work has been wonderful in all the preparations for our arrival. Our crate of essential items will be waiting for us as well as our new car.

We arrive on a Friday, so we are able to get rested before Rob heads back to work on Monday.
Once we are settled I will definitely keep you up to date with pictures of how our life appears from afar!

Day One of our big move

Today the movers showed up bright and early to start the three day process of moving our life. The first stage of packing was all the items that would not be coming with us, but will be stored. We had a 20 ft container that apparently is air tight and sea worthy. We almost filled it up. Tomorrow they are coming with yet another container but this one will travel on sea to Brunei. It will take about 6 weeks for our things to arrive. Still lots to do, but I thought I'd leave you with a little update of what we are up to! More to come...

The Move Begins...

Well here I sit with boxes and chaos all around me. The countdown has started... the day the contents of our home of 7 years will travel by sea across the world. Our move is done in three stages, a 20 ft storage container which will travel by sea, another container of items being stored will make it's way to a warehouse in Vancouver, and finally 500 lbs of essential items being sent by air that we will need prior to our 20ft containers arrival. I feel very blessed that we have movers who are experienced in this type of move. Without them I would feel even more overwhelmed than I already do! This Wednesday is the day that the container going to Brunei gets loaded. I will try to remember to take some photos of the process. So check back soon!

OUCH!!

Yesterday Evan had his braces removed. Today he had his first ever cast put on. While we were away enjoying our vacation at Johnson Lake Evan fell about 12 feet off of a gangplank. At first we thought he had just bruised his heel since most of the impact hit that area. But a week later he was still limping on it, so we decided to get it xrayed. It turned out he broke a bone on his ankle. I guess this is one way to slow my boy down!

What a smile!!

For the past year or so Evan has bravely endured braces and headgear. $3000 and hours of gruelling brushing and flossing he now has a beautiful smile. Evan had his braces removed today and hasn't stopped running his tongue over his teeth!

Lazy Days of Summer

This past long the weekend the boys and I headed to the Interior to my Dad's Cabin on Johnson Lake. After experiencing my first ever flat tire we arrived safe and sound thanks for some very kind road crew workers! Johnson Lake is about an hour and a half outside of Kamloops. The water is so beautiful you feel as if you are in the Caribbean. The boys enjoyed the freedom of rowing their own boat. Evan patiently tried to catch a fish. He had many fisherman stories about "The one that got away..." but came home with an empty net. Kieran, my Dad and I climbed a mountain that brought to a beautiful lookout over the lake. If it weren't for the forest fires in the area the view would have been outstanding. All in all we enjoyed beautiful weather and a great visit with our family.
